Paphos Forest Mine
An Olfactory Experience

I don't know what they were mining here. A good bet would be copper though. There is a heavy metallic aroma in the air, coupled with a slight whiff of sulphur. It reminds me of old chemistry lessons.

Lovely Colours

You really need to visit these places to appreciate just how vibrant the colours are. Photographs don't do them justice.
Slag Heaps

This scene reminds me what our kitchen table would look like after one of our daughter's painting sessions a few years ago.
Interesting Rubble

It is worth checking out those rock piles. There are all sorts of interesting minerals and crystals scattered about.
Scene of Destruction

I don't know why I find these places so fascinating. On one level, it is as if somebody has ripped a chunk out of Mother Earth and left a festering scar. But just as people slow down at road crashes, or gleefully watch youtube clips of spots being picked, I am intrigued by what lies beneath the calm, sedate surface.
