Paphos Kataklysmos Festival
Starry Night?
Now this shot puzzled me. At first glance it looks like I captured a starry night. But why are there no stars on the other pictures? And why are some of the stars in front of that of that big parasol? I can only presume that I inadvertently took the shot just after somebody released a glitter bomb or something like that.
See? In this shot there is only a single star visible. The lights were too bright to see any more. There was actually a nice full moon. I did try to get it in shot but it was quite high in the sky so any picture showing the moon had an awful lot of black sky in it as well, which looked a bit dull.
Loukoumades
Another Cypriot Festival Staple is the Loukoumades Stand. They will appear at all festivals and events. With a bit of luck, the reservoirs will overflow next winter. You can bet your last euro that when they do, you will be able to go to the top of Asprokremmos Dam and watch the cascading waters while munching on some freshly-cooked loukoumades. They are essentially deep-fried dough balls, and can be delicious.
Corn
Speaking of delicious, the corn on the cob you can buy are a real treat. I avoided them for years, but when I finally bought one I couldn't get over how tasty they are.
Harbour Restaurant
I've reached the Harbour-side of the Sea Front now, but there is still plenty more to see. To the left of this picture there were a number of burger and hotdog stands. To the right is the communal eating area. They put down lots of tables and chairs so people can eat their loukoumades and savoury snacks in comfort.
