Paphos Coast Path - Part 7 - Lighthouse Beach to the Elysium
Sunbed City

Somebody recently asked me about sunbeds outside hotels. They specifically referred to those on small beaches along the Paphos Hotel Strip (Part 2 of this walk, if you are a stickler for detail). They wanted to know if they were free for anybody to use, given that the beaches themselves were public land.
In truth, I don't know. Actually, that's not strictly true. I know one thing - they won't be free. The default rate is €2.50 an hour. Now, if a hotel has plonked its own sunbeds on a public beach, how much will they charge you? Again, I don't know. I don't know whether they legally allowed to, or whether they want to. Some hotels might state they are for guests only.
If you are in any doubt, ask either the Hotel, of Paphos Municipality. You can find them on Facebook. I don't know what the answer will be, but they are far more likely to know than I am.

I do know that there is no charge to sit on those circular seats though!
Alternate Shade

This, I think, is going to provide shade of a more natural sort. I believe they have planted a climbing plant on the inside of the metal frame which will grow up to occupy the circular rings above. We shall know in a few years if I am right or not.
Mind Where You Go

At this point the path has been walking past the grounds of the Kefalos Beach Holiday Village. It is a popular resort and lots of people make nice comments about it when I post pictures of it on Facebook. So they must be doing something right.
Anyway, beyond the resort, you come to a green area with a Gazebo which is presumably for wedding ceremonies. Be careful when walking along the path here, as the irrigation system can give you an unwelcome shower if you are not careful. This happened to me while I was filming, and I walked out of the way to avoid getting wet. I almost walked straight into a cyclist coming in the other direction. Needless to say I edited that footage out!
Towards Tomb Of The Kings

In the distance the barren area of land you can see is actually Tomb of the Kings. It doesn't look much from here, because all the interesting stuff is below ground. It is well worth a visit though.
