Avli Tis Nefelis
Cypriots love their coffee, and they have the Coffee Shops to prove it. In a village, they have the same prominance as the local pubs that used to form such a part of UK rural life. So for a coffee shop to grab our attention sufficiently to warrant an article, it must be pretty special. Step forward Avli Tis Nefelis, an oasis of country calm in the bustle of Old Paphos.
Enter Here
I first heard of this place last year. To be honest I thought people were talking about the cafe on the other side of the Car Park first, but the descriptions I heard indicated that it couldn't be that. When I finally got around to visiting, earlier this year, the place was closed. Now though, they have re-opened.
So the first question is: where do you find them? Well, if you take the lower exit from the carpark below Caffe Nero in Old Town, and take the first left turn, you will soon find it. If that isn't clear, see it on Google Maps
Floral Seating
As soon as you enter you realise this is no ordinary coffee shop. You can also see why they would be closed during winter. The tables and chairs are very comfy, and designed for outdoors. There is no indoor seating area, instead you are drinking coffee in a lovely garden.
Order Here
Once you have bagged a seat, go and order your drink, and possibly cake.
Know Your Cats
You should also familiarise yourself with the local cat population. There is a feeding station for the Paphos Cat Lady nearby and I wonder if some of these also frequent that?
Price-wise, a cappuccino was 3 euros.
