Alexander The Great Hotel
Through The Gap
Further along, part of the fence had collapsed, making it easier to snap some more pictures.
Have you stayed at the Alexander? By all accounts it is a lovely place, and certainly has a cracking location.
Vrysoudia-B Beach
While we are here, lets have a look at the beaches around the hotel. The first is a personal favourite of mine. Small, yet perfectly formed, Vrysoudia-B lies directly in front of the Alexender The Great. There is even a little staircase down to it.
Why is the beach called Vrysoudia? That is a good question. If you ask Google to translate the word, it responds with "Taps". Could this be a reference to the Brewery that used to be here, and gave its name to the beach's big brother...
SODAP Beach
Why would taps be associated with a brewery? Well, A taproom is the space in which a brewery serves its hooch to customers. In most cases, this space is either part of the actual brewery or attached to it. So perhaps there used to be two bars here, one on each beach?
Don't worry about all that seaweed by the way. It gets cleared before the Holiday Season begins. There are still the March gales to come though, so there is no point removing it just yet.
Now A Major Film
If these pictures weren't enough, you can watch the film I recorded at the same time.

There was recently a bit of a kerfuffle in the press about the new cafe that is being built at the SODAP beach in Paphos. We couldn't help notice that the pictures used all showed the beach from one angle. So we took a New Year's Eve trip down to the coast, to get a clearer picture. Now you can judge for yourself just how much of an encroachment this cafe will be.Good Pages To Visit
