Mary The Guide!
I was able to appreciate the significance of this painting now. It represents a particular shrine and is known as Mary The Guide because she is guiding us with her hand towards Jesus. It is strange to think that most of the pictures here probably have similar significance, but I have no idea what most of them represent. And nobody gets any points for being able to identify St George and the Dragon!
Icons Galore
I never cease to be surprised at the level of devotion you find in the churches in Cyprus. Even the remotest shrine will be visited and tended. And more central chapels like this are literally swamped in votive offerings.
Different Style
These pictures were created in a different style, and made a nice contrast.
Enjoy The Tour
I had some spare time so I took a few 360s while I was here, and made a quick virtual tour which I shall finish with.
I've ramped up the exposure indoors so you can see more detail. It makes the ceiling look a bit weird in places but it means you get a better idea of what the interior is like.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
