Old Axylou
Lovely
It is lovely on this side of the valley, though the tracks can be a bit tricky. There are lots of steep drops, so drive carefully.
Back To The Valley
We went on a rather circuitous route, before finding ourselves by the church in Kallepeia I have photographed before. We were ready for our picnic now, so decided to head back into the Ezousa Valley and go to the picnic site below Episkopi. This was the route.
Cyprus Traffic Jam
That road is normally empty. However, as luck would have it, I returned back up the route the day afterwards, and got stuck behind a huge herd of goats.
Siga Siga
When that happens, you can only wait and see if you can spot the goat with the biggest udders. As you can see, it wasn't all goats either. There were some sheep too, and a fair number of dogs.
Speaking of dogs, the goats took a left turn ahead, up towards the goat farms. We turned right and took the alternate route. A couple of the dogs followed us halfway up the hill before finally giving up on us. I think they had assumed we were part of the flock, and they were trying to herd us back again.
All in all, it must have taken us half an hour to get up that road, but it was an enjoyable experience made better by the fact that I didn't run over any of the smaller dogs.
Coastal Picnic
Boo! The picnic tables at the Episkopi Picnic Site have been removed. Hopefully, the site is getting a face lift. God knows, it needs it. Everything has the right to be rustic, but this place was really taking liberties. I think the swings they used to have here probably disintegrated in the winter rains. But it has always had a certain charm to it, and tends to remain relatively fly-free.
So instead, we headed down to the coast, near Secret Valley, and ate at picnic site there. The views were as stunning as ever.
