Re: Nicola Sturgeon Hanging On!
Smudger, I was simply pointing out, like others, that Bobbies on the beat are what is needed and that cuts make prevention and solving of crime more difficult. i think we can all agree on that... But I don't think 'cuts' have resulted in fewer bobbies on the beat - it seems to be a deliberate polic...

Re: So what papers can I trust?
All media is biased to a greater or lesser degree and as others have said, the need to fill websites with 'news' 24/7 has dramatically reduced standards. My advice would be to read/watch as wide a range of media as possible. And follow some bloggers, some of them produce the most amazing investigati...

Re: Nicola Sturgeon Hanging On!
What I can't understand is why you think that only people who are Scottish & actually live in Scotland can voice an opinion on Scottish matters that is relevant .............. that is such a one dimensional view! Shane Quite right, it's a bit like saying that people who live in Cyprus and didn'...

Indeed. But what did you expect after two years of astounding anti-Brexit arrogance...?Royal wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 7:33 pmAstounding arrogance!Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 6:36 pm I think we can safely say that the people who voted for Brexit were well and truly suckered in by Farage and Johnson![]()

Re: Brexit: UK on course for even deeper economic slowdown than expected
Personally, I'm still very happy with my 'Leave' vote, have no regrets and believe that leaving the EU will be beneficial. I simply see no point in debating that with Remainiacs whose 'arguments' seem to get more desperate and hysterical every day. So despite the fact that in the past 7 days alone ...

Re: Brexit: UK on course for even deeper economic slowdown than expected
Is it by coincidence or design that two of Brexit's most ardent and vocal supporters, Cyprusgrump and smudger, appear to have bowed out of posting further in the Political section :? Cyprusgrump can't chortle any more that GBP has gone back up to €1.19  Well, I can't obviously speak for Smudge...

Re: CYTANET-Mandatory purchase of more upload- Experiences?
No, CG, we're not talking 'Snake Oil' here, my friend. It's a cheap solution I've used here in my 1973 Wimpey-built EOT 3 bed 2 storey house, where the internal walls are either load-bearing breeze block on GF, or stud work / plasterboard upstairs. A bit different to normal Cy construction, yes? Mo...

Re: CYTANET-Mandatory purchase of more upload- Experiences?
Out of interest, wotz the Wi-Fi coverage like throughout your concrete boxes in Paphos, I wonder? Feedback please, as I might be able to offer some suggestions for massive improvements at quite a small outlay. For example, if your Cyta router is downstairs near the front door, can you use your Wi-F...

Re: CYTANET-Mandatory purchase of more upload- Experiences?
Also, I personally wouldn't be concerned that Cyta were just trying to milk extra cash. Agreed. A friend went into the shop to ask a question about something or other and the Cyta rep ended up reducing her bills quite dramatically! Something to do with internet in a holiday home but I can't remembe...

On the 2 and 4 bit I am also confused. Butb since I have not received anything in wirting yet, it is difficult to tell.. Was the rewiring business mentioned on the website at the time? Thanks No, the rewiring was not mentioned... When I ordered the upgrade I just assumed it would be turned on at th...

Re: CYTANET-Mandatory purchase of more upload- Experiences?
Maybe you have a different package? Mine seems to be for 2 Mbps up at €8,33/month.... I ordered ' Enhanced Upstream Speed ' which at the time offered 3Mbps up but I've always had more than that... The link I have provided seems to suggest that you should get 4Mbps for €8.33 (although there is no do...

Re: CYTANET-Mandatory purchase of more upload- Experiences?
@cyprusgrump: "The VDSLupgrade (to the 2M upload service) involves replacing all the cheap telephone cable that your builder installed with CAT 5 network cable." Thanks, but according to CYTA it does not... (come with new cabelling)... How strange! They stripped out all of my cabl...

Re: CYTANET-Mandatory purchase of more upload- Experiences?
All Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have a Fair Access Policy (FAP) which allows them to throttle your connection if you use 'excessive' amounts of data. However, I would have thought it unlikely that you would hit the FAP without running some form of commercial operation (a website for instance) ...

Well, there would be, if you stuck to the point, which, in this thread, is around shortages of nurses! As to your points,I am not totally convinced by any of the points you made - you see, that's where we differ, I have views that can cover all political spectrums, as I am not bigoted about Left or...

Re: 96% drop in recruitment of EU nurses since BREXIT
I’m sure Grump knows better. He does... But there would be no point trying to convince you would there...? Because you are completely set in your thoughts. You are completely convinced (sincerely I'm sure) that 'Thatcher' is the cause of all the UK's problems - no doubt she hatched a secret p...

However you define plummeting I don't really care BUT this article obviously refers to the fall of the pound due to the hung parliament and not BREXIT.That is what you are doing to try to score points HIC and from now on anything that does not go well in the UK will be down to BREXIT - rather a bli...
