Yes, it was raining as I was walking down from beyond the Cyta building, so I popped into the fruit market to buy an umbrella. I used it for about 1 minute.

Very impressive blog, Dominic. A lot of excellent night shots which I know are not that easy. Thank's for taking the trouble to share the pics to all of us, it is like one was on site... and not in the warm living room. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Wish we’d gone now but we thought it would be wet. Good to know what the scaffolding turned out to be. Thank you for posting such lovely photos. Happy New Year !
Re: Pafos2017 Closing Ceremony
Smashing photos thanks, Dominic! The stage backdrop effects and lighting were simply amazing!
Don't know if you realized it or not, but in a pic #28, you captured a beautiful nearly Full Moon rising behind the stage...

Great set of pics and it was a great evening. The stage dwarfed the surrounding buildings, and the lighting and sound were state of the art. I was very impressed by the quality of the singers and musicians. All in all a very spectacular and impressive event. Nice to get free wine and nibbles as well.

As on the 2nd Jan there are clouds forecast I just did 2 shots after I was walking the dog and I saw the moon, 10 min ago...
And the Moon still rises nowhere near the Orites wind farm....
Here the one with no zoom

and now with 100x dig.zoom, happy now

Re: Pafos2017 Closing Ceremony
Nice night sky shot, Max. But Moon is not full. Was this taken before 2nd Jan, with Moon still waxing to full, or after- when it is waning?
In either case, you'll only get a shot of Full Moon rising above Orites Wind Farm when the next Full Moon is due (when its 180 degrees directly opposite the Sun in the sky)
Which is Wed 31 Jan 2018. Moon races around backwards in the heavens very quickly on a daily basis, remember...

Re: Pafos2017 Closing Ceremony
He posted it on December 31st, so I would guess it was taken before 2nd Jan.

Ha,Ha, Alan, you don't believe me that the Moon is NOT rising above Orites from my location. So I did another shot on the 1.1. for you where you can see the Moon is rising above Troodos area.

and I hope the Moon was "full" enough on the 1. Jan.

Happy now?
