Post by Dominic »

Pafos2017 has been an amazing success story for Paphos, but all good things come to an end. This was how Paphos said goodbye to it's European City of Culture Status...

Yes, it was raining as I was walking down from beyond the Cyta building, so I popped into the fruit market to buy an umbrella. I used it for about 1 minute.

Very impressive blog, Dominic. A lot of excellent night shots which I know are not that easy. Thank's for taking the trouble to share the pics to all of us, it is like one was on site... and not in the warm living room. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Smashing photos thanks, Dominic! The stage backdrop effects and lighting were simply amazing!

Don't know if you realized it or not, but in a pic #28, you captured a beautiful nearly Full Moon rising behind the stage...

Great set of pics and it was a great evening. The stage dwarfed the surrounding buildings, and the lighting and sound were state of the art. I was very impressed by the quality of the singers and musicians. All in all a very spectacular and impressive event. Nice to get free wine and nibbles as well.

OOPS! Whatamistakertomaker! Let's leave it to Max to try and take a 100x zoom piccy of Full Moon rising on Tuesday evening, 2nd Jan, just after sunset?

ps: Looks to me that PP have linked to PL FB today, in a post (not mainstream)...

Nice night sky shot, Max. But Moon is not full. Was this taken before 2nd Jan, with Moon still waxing to full, or after- when it is waning?

In either case, you'll only get a shot of Full Moon rising above Orites Wind Farm when the next Full Moon is due (when its 180 degrees directly opposite the Sun in the sky)

Which is Wed 31 Jan 2018. Moon races around backwards in the heavens very quickly on a daily basis, remember...

He posted it on December 31st, so I would guess it was taken before 2nd Jan.

Ha,Ha, Alan, you don't believe me that the Moon is NOT rising above Orites from my location. So I did another shot on the 1.1. for you where you can see the Moon is rising above Troodos area.
Image

and I hope the Moon was "full" enough on the 1. Jan. :)

Happy now?
