Re: Anyone NOT having the vaccine?
I would rephrase the question, why would anyone have the vaccine? It doesn't stop you catching the virus, it doesn't stop you passing it on, so therefore it gives a false sense of security that you are 'safe' once you have had it. With mutation of the virus, you will need another dose in a few month...

Re: A Coming Covid Catastrophe - mass vaccination
"How did the UK and Brazil mutations arise?" I'm no scientist, but if you google Astra Zeneca Phase Three control trials, you will see that the main trial sites were England, South Africa and Brazil. It may be pure coincidence, but has anyone seen a discussion of this on the main stream me...

Re: Jelly Fish
I have swum in the harbour at Ag Georgios a couple of times this week and have not come across jelly fish. It could be an alternative place to swim, if the weather isn't too bad over the next couple of days.

I have used the office by the motorway roundabout a couple of times and have found the staff there to be excellent and helpful. As a bonus, they even stick to the system of numbered tickets for the queues, no 'pushing in'!

I tried to change my address online when I paid my Road Tax, the links were all in Greek and none seemed to be what I wanted so I went to a Citizens Service Centre. They couldn't find my new address on their records and said just leave it!

Re: Mr Andreas - Opthalmologyist Blue Cross
My wife has had cataract operations on both eyes performed by Dr Andreas, under GESY, in the past few months and is very satisfied with the results. We were a little put off on first seeing him, as he wanted to put all the referral details into his 'system', before discussing anything else, but we q...

I have had fish there, because I don't eat meat. I had to pre-order it.

Car Sharing Restrictions
With the announcement today of restrictions easing, and with previous announcements, I have seen nothing about allowing more than three people to share a car. Have I missed something, or will the restriction stay in place until we hear otherwise?

Re: Kissonerga,s new two kilometre walkway.
Walked it this morning. It starts if you walk through some waste ground, off of the road to Queens Bay (just up the hill from the new lights) It finishes with a Leptos fence, where they are developing next to the Atlantica, so you walk out onto the road between the Cythiana and the Sunset Breeze. Th...

Re: Anti-biotics and alcohol?
I read that when antibiotics were first discovered, they were used to treat VD in servicemen. Because of the worry of the servicemen going drinking and infecting others, and being re-infected before a course was finished, they were told that alcohol and antibiotics didn't mix, and the advice has bee...

I had a similar experience earlier this year, just before I was due to travel. The Citizens Service said it had to be issued by the UK. I managed to speak to someone in the UK, and arranged for new cards to be sent here, and was also given a number to ring, should I need to use the service whilst I ...

When I have booked appointments for Specialists for my wife, it is not at the 'front' counter, where you book to see a GP, but in a cubicle along the corridor on the right, just past the payment / stamp cubicle.

They sent out details of changed Terms and Conditions round about this time last year. I noticed that they were going to charge for sending out statements from April, and that written confirmation was needed if you wanted to stop receiving these. I wrote a letter confirming I wanted to stop them and...

We changed both our cars from individual to joint names last year. A couple of points to be aware of; Atlantic Insurance couldn't just add the other person to an existing policy as a joint owner, even though they were a named driver, we had to cancel, gaining some refund, then we had to open new pol...

The Ancient Monument is a renovated Medieval Olive Oil Factory. There would have been a beam through the holes in the upright stones with a heavy stone at the end to crush the olives, with the oil running down the channel into the vats. The step halfway down the vat would have been for workers clean...

Re: New blog: Sinti Monastery
There is a legend about Sinti (cited by Gwynneth der Parthog in 'Byzantine and Medieval Cyprus') that the craftsman who built it, when he had finished, invited his old master to look at it. The former apprentice was particularly pleased with the dome so they went on it to inspect it. From there, the...

There is an interesting story about Androlikou, which has featured in a couple of documentaries. Hassan, a Turkish Cypriot from Androlikou, whilst working in a neighbouring village as a shepherd, met and fell in love with Charalambia, the Greek Cypriot daughter of his employer. In the late 1950's wh...

I started with a pair of TP-Link adapters when I first moved to Cyprus and have had to replace one then the other a couple of times, twice under guarantee, and also by buying new ones. I often had connection problems using them and even tried to upgrade them through links on the company website. I m...
