boycott, yes I can ( with difficulty ) but if i CAN safely take the demon drink with antibiotics then why not..I explain to the wife that i am a social drinker,,for the fact that when someone says they,re having a drink i say social i…..
It depends on the antibiotic. Most dentists prescribe the anti bacterial drug called Metronidazol or Flagyl. The combination of Flagyl and alcohol can cause serious side effects including hot flashes, blood pressure changes, and liver damage. If you need to take antibiotics and plan on drinking alcohol, be sure to tell your doctor. If you are finishing up a course of Flagyl, wait a few days before drinking alcohol. Several years ago I did not wait for the Flagyl to pass out of my system - and it was to my cost!!!!
Have a read of this insight by Adrian Chiles who considered himself a social drinker and didn't realise how much he was drinking a week. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45258081
How many people on here know what your recommended units per week is?
How many people on here know how many units are in a pint of beer or a large lass of wine?
It seems a no brainer really! If the course of the antibiotic is for 4 days only, just stay off the alcohol! It will probably work better and do your liver good!
I read that when antibiotics were first discovered, they were used to treat VD in servicemen. Because of the worry of the servicemen going drinking and infecting others, and being re-infected before a course was finished, they were told that alcohol and antibiotics didn't mix, and the advice has been passed on ever since!
