Re: MEU3 query

Our MEU3 certificates arrived eleven days after our interview last December. We were somewhat surprised but delighted.

Re: Cyta alternative

Five weeks to the day we let them know we had a problem, Cyta arrived. Two vehicles and three men. Seventeen minutes later and they all left. There had been talk of severe underground cable problems, the need for underground cameras, and all that happened was a cable was pulled from one end of the u...

Re: Britain remains in Category B

This debate will run and peoples’ opinions will no doubt depend on their own circumstances. I am aware of the very straightened circumstances many Cypriots (and doubtless others) find themselves in through no fault of their own. We contribute to local food banks and also to those in this area who ha...

Re: Cyta alternative

Nearly four weeks of no service from Cyta and they emailed yesterday they “may” be able to get a team out next week. We feel this is beyond a joke. I contacted a local firm, well recommended by friends, and they installed a WiFi service this morning. It took an hour and we are now getting 35 Mb down...

Cyta alternative

Cyta is driving us to distraction, and we have been without internet access between 23rd July - 3rd August and from 19th August onwards. We have been fobbed off and told different things every time we ring or go into the shop, and still there is no end in sight. What are the legal and practical alte...

2.4 GHz or 5 GHz ...

We lost our internet connection this morning and I rang Cyta. In talking to the engineer he said the line was unstable and that he would send out someone to look at things. He altered the settings at their end and said I would get about 7 Mb which should be stable until help arrived. About an hour l...

Re: Snake identification...

http://www.bnellis.eu/nature/natreptile.html The above link will take you to pictures of all the snakes you may see and a description of most of them. We have had four different species in the garden. I should like to make a point that the BNV is not poisonous but it is venomous. I have it on good ...

Re: Snake identification...

It was thinnish and when I picked it up in the pool net to deposit it over the wall, it curled up and raised its head. I almost had a heart attack. I didn’t get close enough to see the head shape which is why I wanted to post a picture.

Life Certificate.

We did ours last week, and signed by bank official.
Sent away on Monday.
Two years ago we had ours done at the Hellenic Bank, and they then told us it was not bank policy to do it anymore.

Tales from the Clinic ...

We had to go down to the clinic so that my darling wife could pick up the results of her blood test. It wasn’t too busy. The receptionist was masked and the three people waiting (all young Cypriot women) were masked. One of them pulled her mask down to speak and, within seconds, the others had follo...

Cyta ... hmm

We lost our internet connection on 23rd July and an engineer from Cyta arrived a day later and told us “It wasn’t working”. He then phoned and said the “underground team” would sort the problem out on the Saturday or the following Monday. On Monday nothing was working and I telephoned 132. I was tol...

Lidl W5 stuff

We have been very impressed with the W5 kitchen cleaner from Lidl. Has anyone used their general purpose cleaner and their dishwasher tablets? And can anyone recommend them?

Rat Problem

We caught a large rat in a trap in a kitchen drawer recently and I sent it to meet its maker. Problem solved, I thought. But our dog has been barking under some trees in the garden and I can see one or two rats there. My wife is not impressed, and our two cats are not very popular. I suspect we need...

Pillows ...

Having been let down AGAIN by an English company whose couriers have lost our order, and who are proving reluctant to refund our money, we are looking for some new pillows, and wondered whether anywhere in Paphos might be able to supply them. The problem in buying pillows is that they are sealed in ...

Diagnostic Centre, Paphos

My wife’s consultant sent her for a MRI scan earlier this year to the Diagnostic Centre in Paphos. She was very frightened and claustrophobic, and - when we went there a few months ago - she decided she could not have the scan. But, times pass, and she decided to have the scan before her meeting wit...
