Re: Ultrasound scan (GESY)

I recently went to the one near Toy Box off the dual carriageway They fitted me in within half an hour after a call from my gp That I think is George Vorkas whom I first contacted. I might ask my Personal Doctor to see if she can get me an earlier appointment. No it’s not, it’s off the dual carriag...

Ultrasound scan (GESY)

I normally use George Vorkas for ultrasound scans but, when I telephoned this morning, their first available appointment was a month away. Any suggestions for a quicker GESY appointment in Paphos? Evangelismos gave the equivalent of not being really bothered as they were so busy.

Re: New Market

My wife, who is running the new market, has asked me to clarify a few points. There is no charge to stall holders but they are invited to make a donation to the Friends’ Hospice, Paphos. Refreshments will be available at Santa Barbara from 09.00 and their kitchen will be open from midday. Please fee...

EasyJet flight problem

Our daughter booked an EasyJet flight months ago to fly from Gatwick to Paphos on holiday at the beginning of April. It was meant to arrive in the early afternoon. Some weeks ago she was informed it would arrive at nine o’clock in the evening. And this weekend she has been informed it will arrive at...

Re: Maximum visits to GP on Gesy

My Personal Doctor told me that the limit for visits does not apply to people with a chronic condition.

Dreadful Incident at Paphos General Hospital

My wife and I were at Paphos General yesterday so that she could see her neurologist. Appointments were running late (mainly because the neurologist takes as much time as necessary with each patient). My wife was called and a young Cypriots man exploded with rage. He was shouting and tried to push p...

Re: Survive on 1,000euros a week in Cyprus?

I would be astonished if an income like that could not sustain a comfortable lifestyle. Our pension income is about €3500 a month, and we live like kings and we generally save about €600 a month. We are covered by GESY which means no expensive health insurance, which makes a difference.

Amazon UK query

Someone on another social media platform suggested I buy from Amazon UK, as Amazon DE did not have what I was looking for. I have not used Amazon UK since Brexit. She told me that Amazon UK automatically charge Cyprus VAT at checkout, and that there are no import charges if the item costs less than ...

I would like to start collecting my favourite films in the blue ray format. Is there a shop in Cyprus which will deliver?

I only listen to Rock FM in the car and, this morning, was surprised to hear the presenter speaking only in Greek, and playing non-English music. Has the station been bought?

Re: Guiding emergency vehicles to the house.

I’m sorry but it is not BS. On 22nd October, 2023, my wife broke her hip, nearly died and - despite me sending the correct Pin - and with my Cypriot landlord later speaking to 112 in Greek - they could not find our house. A second ambulance was dispatched and we could see them both driving around th...

Thanks to all for your contributions. We sents a Pin location to an ambulance but they said their gps wasn’t working. It works for deliveries but not for them apparently.

Re: Medical Emergency Assistance

I posted this on another thread. However, you might find it useful if you missed it. I have put the name of our development of 10 plots on google maps. It has been useful when we have deliveries as we no longer have to go down to Olivios to meet them. Our alarm was fitted by SAS and we have a panic...

Guiding emergency vehicles to the house.

There have been two instances in the last year when we have had to call an ambulance to the house. On both occasions it took an age for them to arrive as we live in the middle of a field, down a track. There is no real address. I had great hopes for the “112 Cyprus” app, but it just does not work re...

Medical Emergency Assistance

As the years roll by, we become increasingly frail. We have both had bad falls at home (although fortunately we were both at home when the incidents happened). My darling wife broke her hip last year, and I had a heavy fall in the garden last week which necessitated a hospital stay - but thank heave...

Dog proof garden …

Our new rescue dog, Oscar, has proved himself to be something of an escape artist and our plastic mesh fencing (attached to the wooden fence) is proving vulnerable. I think something like this would be much better. https://themeshcompany.com/shop/wire-fencing/green-wire-fencing/galvanised-pvc-coated...
