Re: Funeral Questions …

We have a funeral plan which has been customised to our exact wishes and the price has gone up considerably since we took it out a few years ago. However, we have been assured there will be no extra cost at any time in the future and that is written in the agreement. If the cremation takes place in...

Thanks for the link. But I hope I explained in my original post that we really don’t like the idea of a funeral plan given the risks involved. Hence my question about insurance.

Funeral Questions …

As we get older we begin to plan for the future (far in the future, we trust) but funerals keep crossing our minds. We have a savings account with funds to bury us. But inevitably costs will rise. However we have always shied away from funeral plans for a number of reasons. Firstly the number of com...

Re: UK Pensions

Our pensions arrived on Friday. No help at all from UK Teachers’ Pensions, claiming they did not know what was happening. At least the State Pensions’ Agency had a recorded message for telephone callers. A poor show all round in my opinion.

Re: UK Pensions

Unbelievable. A recorded message from the International Pension Centre explains that no UK pensions were paid today because payments are authorised by an American bank, which was closed because of Thanksgiving. Millions of people will not be paid “for one or two working days”. We, fortunately, have ...

UK Pensions

Has anyone else not received either their UK State Pension or UK Government pension today? We were due to receive three pensions today but have received nothing, I telephoned UK Teachers’ Pensions to be told “all their systems are down”. I have not yet got through to the International Pension Centre...

Re: Protecting car bodywork

Why don't you get a cover for the car? You will have to put it on and take off but no big problem. It depends how often you use the car. We had considered that but were hoping for the easiest option, as we are not as young as we were. Don’t really need to worry about this until next Spring as the s...

Nothing can be installed. Landlady very protective of her investment, which we absolutely agree with.

I thought portable shades needed anchoring. You can tell how little I know about these things.

Protecting car bodywork

We have recently moved and it is not possible to park our car in the shade. Our landlady will not allow (understandably as she has spent tens of thousands restoring the property) any alterations which might allow us to install a car port. My question is this … we want to protect the bodywork from th...

MEU3 change of address

I cannot believe, in the third decade of the 21st century, that we have to appear at Immigration in person to change our address for the MEU3. My wife is no longer able to travel to Paphos for anything but medical treatment. Does anyone know if there is a workaround?

Re: Neo Chorio, Latsi and Polis

Dominic, my wife and I have recently come across this video and it was extremely interesting. After twelve years in Argaka we are moving to Neo Chorio at the end of the month. Your trip through the village enabled us to notice things that we hadn’t been able to focus on (driving through the narrow s...

Donations for the fire victims

Up here in the Polis region, people are moving mountains to give support and aid to the victims of the dreadful fires. There are collection points everywhere and the donations are staggering. I hope that the same thing is happening across the Paphos region, and will be supported by forum members and...

On the move after 12 years …

We are moving from Argaka at the end of August to another village in the area.

Changing addresses - there are some obvious ones, both here and in the UK.

But we would welcome suggestions for those we might overlook.

Please feel free to suggest the obvious and the not so obvious.

Apple repairs

If you have Apple products (iPads and iPhones) that need repair, they sometimes need specialist care. My iPad, a few months out of warranty, developed a problem. I contacted https://www.prismastore.cy (from whom I bought it) and it was couriered to Nicosia. The next day they telephoned and a technic...

Re: Ultrasound scan (GESY)

I recently went to the one near Toy Box off the dual carriageway They fitted me in within half an hour after a call from my gp That I think is George Vorkas whom I first contacted. I might ask my Personal Doctor to see if she can get me an earlier appointment. No it’s not, it’s off the dual carriag...
