Funeral Questions …

Post by MacManiac »

As we get older we begin to plan for the future (far in the future, we trust) but funerals keep crossing our minds. We have a savings account with funds to bury us. But inevitably costs will rise. However we have always shied away from funeral plans for a number of reasons.

Firstly the number of companies who operate these plans (especially in the UK) going bust is frightening. Secondly the plan we were recommended here has some appalling reviews on “Trust Pilot”, with additional charges being demanded before burial could take place. Thirdly we don’t want to tie up the capital all at once (with the possibility, however remote, of losing it).

An article in the UK papers detailed the 46,000 people who had lost their investment with the last disaster.

A number of commentators mentioned they had taken out insurance policies to cover funeral costs, which allowed monthly payments.

Any thoughts on all of this? And roll on the opening of the crematorium …

Have a look to see what plans Angel Guardians do.

We have a funeral plan which has been customised to our exact wishes and the price has gone up considerably since we took it out a few years ago.
However, we have been assured there will be no extra cost at any time in the future and that is written in the agreement.
If the cremation takes place in Cyprus there will even be a refund on the initial cost.

Thanks for the link. But I hope I explained in my original post that we really don’t like the idea of a funeral plan given the risks involved. Hence my question about insurance.

Thanks for your response. We were told, when the funeral plan was being proposed, that it was a set price.
