New Old Paphos

Post by Dominic »

It's been a few months since we last reported on the progress of the Old Paphos Regeneration Scheme. I had to visit the main Cyta Shop recently, and as I had time to kill I decided to take my camera for a stroll, to see how things were progressing. Autumn was in the air and the skies were fairly grey. It even rained at one point. However, the pictures will still hopefully show what a wonderful place Old Town Paphos is becoming.

Great pictures Dominic, thank you.

The town is buzzing in the evenings, and the coffee shops are very full later on.
The fountain would appear to work evenings only, with impressive lighting to add to the effect.

I agree with you, a vast improvement.

I have driven through Mouttalos a couple of times recently.

It is SO white, you would think it had been snowing.

Too bland for me :(

On the subject of the New, Old Paphos..... it was our 18th wedding anniversary last week and I dug out a few of our album photos to scan and share with my friends.

We got married at Paphos Town Hall. We always loved that area of town.

Here we are:

Slightly off the subject...you mentioned CYTA , I was unfortunate enough to have to visit the shop...In the new layout they have allowed about 4 parking spaces , but right opposite there is a massive area with concrete slabs to sit on or to enjoy a picnic. I noticed the locals also use it as a roundabout.

It is a problem parking, so I now pay my bill in the Cyta shop in the Mall, much easier and quicker.

PS, what a beautiful bride Jules

Thanks for the photos Dominic, you've encouraged me to grab my camera and go and have a wonder round. I'll try and do it on a sunny day.

Thanks Dominic, I think you missed the revamped Othello (Attikon) with it's link to the Paia Electrica & outside cinema space, plus the outside of the Markideon theatre that is looking fantastic. I hope Karavella bus station is going to get a facelift as it sorely needs one.

It wasn't meant to be an exhaustive tour of every street. Just a wander in the rain. I will doubtless be back in a few months for another photo tour, and I will look out for those features then. It is nice to feature something different each blog. :)

You’re always so practical Lloyd...I wish I was so organised! But then I would not have anything to moan about...

Thanks for the nice comments regarding my photo....
We went to the park afterwards and had lots taken in the gardens around the fountain area. We both got a bit cheesed off by the end of it though. I'm so not used to being in front of the camera.

Have the gardens been renovated too during all these changes?

I have moved the conversation about paying bills to it's own thread. :)
