climbing slowly higher to villages like Gerovasa and further to Malia, Vouni from where it is only another 7 km. The chapel is right on the road which continues later towards Pera Pedi (E803) From Pera Pedi you can drive back home via Mandria, Agios Nikolaos and you are back in the Dhiarizos valley.
and here we are, one can see water appearing in the front which is holy water from a spring behind the church..

this is the other side of the chapel surrounded by huge ancient trees, one plane tree is >800 years old and 38m high.

this sign outside the place is handy and explains some of the history and important is that the frescoes are from two periods 12th and 15th century

I was lucky that the priest was there when I visited and could show me the older frescoes from 12th century right behind the Altar where is normally locked. Here the entrance with the wall paintings of Ayia Mavri and Timotheos already in the background.

they gave the place the name

the view towards the altar

and this is the area where the holy water comes into the church and the sound of running water gives it a real special atmosphere.

great work of art at the dome

I like that fresco showing the architecture of that time with a roof garden

now behind of the altar the oldest part of the chapel

12th century

back to 15th century

these church towers are not Cypriot style

but this dresses are...

and finally before it get's boring for you a scene which needs no explaining.
