Let's keep the conversation about interest rates please.
If anybody thinks that the Brexit vote didn't badly affect sterling, they are living in cloud cuckoo land. Yes rates do fluctuate. They fluctuate for reasons. The reason in this instance was the Brexit vote.
Imagine a farmer with a field of corn. Each year he gets a crop, depending on the weather, insect level and what-have-you. One year, locusts destroy most of his crop and his yield is low. The next year, things are back to normal, and continue that way. Then somebody torches his field, and his yield is low again.
Just because his yield was low because of locusts, does not mean that torching his field had no effect on his yield. A statement like that is ridiculous, yet that is what people are now trying to claim here.
The Brexit vote knackered the exchange rate. That is a demonstrable fact. Leavers should at least own that.
