Tsada The Scenic Way

The usual way to get to Tsada from Paphos is to drive straight up the B7. Occasionally though, we prefer to take a scenic route. There are some nice rock formations along the way too, so we decided it would be a perfect candidate for a blog. It's also worth knowing that you don't have to rely on the B7 to get you up that hill!

Another lovely blog, Dominic. Haven't tried that actual route yet, but managed several of the Armou to Tsada ones years ago, looking for a more direct route Polemi-Armou or Polemi-Anavargos. We would often take the route from Konia, past Armou, towards Episkopi and then through Minthis Hills if we were at the motorway roundabout and fancied a change of scenery. Much easier now the road's been tarmacked and the majority of Minthis Hills building has been done - we used to have to slalom around builders' vehicles and piles of building materials.

I agree about the dumping - it's mind-boggling because it takes more effort to fly tip it like that than to put it in or beside a green wheely bin. If the Tsada council made a concerted effort and cleared it all up, and did regular follow-up checks/clearing up, then the tippers would move on, as happened when the Polemi tip was closed permanently. However, it did take some big guns in the form of EU to get the Polemi tip closed and properly covered over. So maybe somebody (preferably a Tsada resident) needs to report the Tsada tipping, firstly to the Council and if nothing is done, then higher up.

Excellent blog Dominic from one of the nicest areas we have, close to Paphos town. I drove, coming from Armou at least 500 times parts of this tour.
Unfortunately this area was used in the past a lot for dumping all kind of rubbish, also lorries from Paphos dipping whatever they wanted. The riverbed near Armou was full of it but then this was stopped from the village mukhtar. So people used to go there moved further up towards the riverbed where your tour begins. Also this was stopped and cleared from Authorities and now they found obviously another area to dump things.I was involved in the past in a large project there, (50.000 m2) planting 800 olive trees after I found enough water to drill a borehole. (actually there was an underground lake 350ft deep.) The well water pump run on solar panels. The funny thing was that after the olive farm was established nobody was dumping anymore there, as in the past it was a large dip which had to be cleared. Unfortunately the large project went bust in 2012 after the financial crisis....

This is the most exciting moment after all the efforts and costs to find water here in Cyprus - Victory


and it did not stop after 1/2 hour which was the proof that it is enough for the project...

Amazing stuff thanks, Max! I have seen (and helped with) similar water ventures in the past with Periclis in Nata, from a borehole in the hills high above his Taverna, leading all the way back down the track to his establishment.

Then there was Dimitri in Amargeti outskirts who dug similar for watering his newly planted garden and olive trees up there. Also his brother in law George, for watering his large olive tree plantation further down the road, between Amargeti and Lemona...

Who remembers George and Dimitri from "The Geranium" in Bar Street in the 90's?

Your question about propery prices: the piece of land where the trees are (your pic 25, page 4/8) ca 3000 m2, I tried to sell in 2011. But even it was the financial crisis then, the owner asked 350.000 Euro which was too much for my German customer.
