Flotsam and Jetsam

Post by Dominic »

I've moved this picture to it's own thread, as it didn't fit in with the blog comments thread. However, it does raise a good topic.

What's the oddest thing you have found on a beach?

Not so much the oddest, but the most memorable was the large bright blue plastic bags we saw washed up one summer on a Greek island beach - only on closer inspection they weren't bags, they were jellyfish.

I used to, in my teenage years, go riding along the beaches near Silloth in Cumbria. The horses would not go near a certain part of a beach, which was apparently a WW2 arms testing area.... where shells etc. would occasionally wash up. Never saw any, but did see a friend sent arse over tit as his horse stopped dead!
