You said that as the person concerned was British you were leaving it on the forum, but had he been some other Nationality it always causes trouble, so implying you are treating Brits differently from anyone else.
Which is why I said there should be one (forum) rule for all equally.
Had that nasty person been from my own Country I would have expected to read exactly the same about him.
I don't see how my comments were aggressive. I am a very passive man actually.

No problem whatsoever. A pet peeve of mine is sweeping generalisations. Unless done in a friendly fashion (eg "you Brits and your sense of humour") they invariably cause problems. I think adding the word "SOME" to the title is the lesser of two evils.

To be clear, I wasn't personally bothered by the thread title at all. However, if I had let it pass, then I wouldn't be able to justify objecting to a thread titled "Israelis are grumpy", or "Russians are arrogant". The reality is, that I would object to those titles, so need to object to the Brit title in the interest of fairness.

Conversation, OK, I see!!

Can you tell us then, band, just what the man said. You say that he is big and brave but with very little intellect. Where were you whilst all this was going on.
How old is your daughter, btw.

Al, you say it happens ALL THE TIME even in the UK and yet I have never, ever encountered an instance of this happening. Where do you shop where it happens all the time?

Sweeping generalisation about the populace of an entire country, ie Britain, does indeed cause problems.

Actually, do you know what, no, I am not going to answer your questions.

If you don't like the thread, don't read it!

I wouldn't answer those questions either. That's just weird.

So I hunt the checkouts for what looks like a worthy cause, with a full trolley of shopping going through, and give them the £6 voucher. The thanks and the happiness on their face always makes my day...

You took my comment out of context, William. When I said that it happens all the time in supermarkets (even in UK), I wasn't referring to the disgusting verbal abuse that Band's daughter suffered from this ex-pat bully.

I was talking about Mrs Band realizing that she'd forgotten something vital when loading the checkout belt, and rushed back instore to grab the missing item. This has happened to me many times in Tescos when I realize that I've forgotten the potatoes for Sunday dinner, for example.

Usually, there's someone in front of me still checking out. So I apologize to the person queuing behind me, saying that I've forgotten something and will be back in a jiffy. Upon my return, I again apologize for any delay caused. It's usually smiles all round. Never witnessed 'checkout rage' at any time, anywhere...

Why do you want to know how old his daughter is? Quite frankly I find your questions slightly weird.

Agreed, Jim. Anyone reading the OP can see that wife and daughter were shopping at Lidl when this event occurred, while Band was otherwise occupied..

William- you must really ask yourself WHY you are asking these probing and very personal questions to the OP. What business is it of yours as to what Band was up to? It's pretty obvious from the OP that his daughter is a youngster, therefore unable to retaliate in kind- just the scenario a bully likes...

Notice how quick he shut his gob once Mum returned, coz then he might have got a punch, or Glasgow Kiss! Why are you asking his daughters age, FCS?

Very wrong this comment. Sounds like you are questioning his ability to protect his family. If his daughter is 6 or 26 it has nothing at all to do with you.

William- if you have nothing sensible to add to a conversation, then sometimes, it's better to just walk away... Otherwise, you might be identifying yourself as a troll, IMHO.
