You took my comment out of context, William. When I said that it happens all the time in supermarkets (even in UK), I wasn't referring to the disgusting verbal abuse that Band's daughter suffered from this ex-pat bully.
I was talking about Mrs Band realizing that she'd forgotten something vital when loading the checkout belt, and rushed back instore to grab the missing item. This has happened to me many times in Tescos when I realize that I've forgotten the potatoes for Sunday dinner, for example.
Usually, there's someone in front of me still checking out. So I apologize to the person queuing behind me, saying that I've forgotten something and will be back in a jiffy. Upon my return, I again apologize for any delay caused. It's usually smiles all round. Never witnessed 'checkout rage' at any time, anywhere...
