...Shortly setting up for the first BBQ of the season, including home-made lamb and feta burgers with a mayo/chopped mint sauce, shieftalia, pork souvlaki and chicken drumsticks too. ...
You are serious!
I'm being lazy. Ordered meat and pizzas in from a local restaurant! Soon the "banda" will arrive to feast! (relatives)

Aside - I was sitting in a cafe having a little bite and some Russian guy was constantly on the phone saying.. "Kristos Voskres"!
So - if you want to be really really cool with your Russian neighbours - of whom you probably have many - greet them - for the next week or so - with
"Kristos Voskres". They will respond with "Voistinu Voskres!" . And you may have to repeat this dialogue three times, depending on how they feel!
What does it mean - simplest translation is
"Christ is risen". "He is risen indeed". A greeting also used in the Anglican church service )
Apparently Greek is Χριστὸς ἀνέστη! Ἀληθῶς ἀνέστη! (Khristós Anésti! Alithós Anésti!) - but I stand corrected.

How could you :D :D I am at home nursing a wheezing cold (all the dust around has played havoc with my breathing) and you come on with scrumptious recipes for hot cross buns and beautiful BBQ Sunday Lunch - may your bath water run cold as they say - only joking.

Have a great day - my turn will come.

OhSusana -What a lovely post will try to remember that Russian phrase.

Had a lovely Easter Sunday. A walk along the front this afternoon in the sunshine from Luna park to the harbour, followed by a meal at Gabriel's in Kouklia tonight. Traditional entertainment in the Square outside the church, with races for the children, followed by the younger children doing traditional dancing and then the older girls. Then traditional music and villagers dancing.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photos, mobile phone shots.

Gabriel's has become our favourite taverna. Food is consistently good and Gabriel and Sophie make you feel part of their family. When we have visitors in the summer, we always take them to the Greek night on a Thursday(only on during the summer) when the square is closed to traffic.

He posts on his facebook page when the square is closed to traffic and what entertainment is on in his taverna and the square.

Looked at the menu there last night. Will definitely try it soon. Have friends coming out in May, so it will be another place that we can take them. Very different to when we first bought our house twelve years ago, and the choices of places to eat were very limited, Michaels's by the army camp,or Georges in Mandria and for anything that was not Greek/Cypriot food you had to go into Paphos.

Sorry about the bath water - a comment made in jest - I have no special powers honest.

Another sample of delicious food and what a wonderful gesture you have made and which I would love to accept. Thank you so much.

Best wishes

Rita

NB The pictures of Kouklia are very good and I can see a friend of mine in there (my cat Skippy boards in Kouklia when I am away) so know it reasonably well.
