Is Hydrogen the Answer ?
Re: Is Hydrogen the Answer ?
Methane and natural gas are the same things so the answer is that methane has a larger molecule and is therefore not as "searching" as pure hydrogen.

This is very true. Any casual reader of this thread will not conclude that Trans Am is the knowledgeable one, based purely on how they are communicating.

Thank you for that intervention, Dominic. I think this subsection of the thread may now be better closed – what say you?

I think the Weatherman has more scientific knowledge, then most people on this island, so I would stop right there if I was you.71 Trans Am wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 1:20 pm As with the Hydrogen argument the Weatherman is way off track on Nuclear Fusion

Jeepers. . . . What an explosive discussion. Very interesting though.

Whilst I have been going on about Hydrogen as a fuel for vehicles I have just come across another very important way in which Hydrogen could help save the Planet.
I think on this subject it is as well to have a broad outlook and an open mind.

In 1975 we installed a system in the Royal Insurance Building in Liverpool designed by Honeywell which used a similar principle. Using heat from people and office equipment to provide a comfortable working environment. We installed the same system at the Triad in Bristol and Rolls Royce Research at Filton.Aargent wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 6:27 pm Whilst I have been going on about Hydrogen as a fuel for vehicles I have just come across another very important way in which Hydrogen could help save the Planet.

I agree that an open mind is required but there is so little detail on their website that it needs to be wide, wide, open. My first question would be the low carbon production of steel would produce what characteristics (crystal shape and size, tensile strength and elongation et cetera)? However, I like the idea, provided that the generation of the additional energy for electrolysis is also low carbon.
Re: Is Hydrogen the Answer ?
It states on their Website "The aim of the “Salzgitter Hydrogen” sector-interconnection project is to generate hydrogen in Salzgitter through electrolysis and electricity from wind power. "Devil wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 3:22 pmI agree that an open mind is required but there is so little detail on their website that it needs to be wide, wide, open. Okay, and if the wind drops such as it's done here over the last seven weeks, what then?
Re: Is Hydrogen the Answer ?
Luckily the wind speed profile in Germany is totally different and twice the average of Cyprus. Should cover the demand

Several of the floors of the Roal Insurance Building just consisted of Plant Rooms which operated on a similar principle as described in the Salzgitter article.Aargent wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 1:16 pmJim B wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 7:12 amIn 1975 we installed a system in the Royal Insurance Building in Liverpool designed by Honeywell which used a similar principle. I think this will be my last word on the subject but it just shows the ongoing commitment of the Government to produce Hydrogen at a reasonable cost.
