I suggest we let the owner of the forum decide what is best for him and the forum...

I am more than happy to reinstate edits and retroactively ban people who abused the privilege. What do people think?

Interesting !! since one of the contributors to this edit discussion was vehement in their personnel editing of posters inputs whether they agreed or not making most threads incomprehensible to many of the now defunct forums topics. Just my view point

I've no feelings either way as I don't consider it an issue for me!

I am with Jeanne & Lloyd on this one - I sometimes realise I have made errors longer than five minutes after I have posted but know I can correct it so that short time space would be insufficient. One would hope that the odd spelling error would not bring forth masses of corrections if the post itself still makes sense.

Honestly, do what you think is best for your forum...

In the ~10 to 15 years that I have been running/contributing to/moderating forums I can only remember one single post out of millions where legal action was threatened...

I'm sure if posters notice that somebody is editing posts after the event to change the meaning they will let everybody know. ;)
