I can't work out whether the story about Cyprus hosting the next James Bond film is an April Fool or not. It isn't as if it is completely unbelievable.

Thanks for those who played along with our effort this year :-)

It's been almost a tradition over the years on the forums - in fact this was the eleventh April Fools' gag!

BTW for anyone interested here are our previous ones - only a couple of them have subsequently come true

The heated beach was our April Fool. Thanks to Memory Man for the idea. I would also like to thank our friends at The Paphos Beacon for playing along.

On a related note, the Mayor Of Akamas is not in fact renaming The Blue Lagoon. It will still be The Blue Lagoon. It won't be Aphrodite's Armpit.
However, a few years ago, somebody was jailed for selling little seats with the word Cup Final written on them. So that one was at least based on the truth.

I saw one in GQ that said Jeremy Corbyn had resigned; for a split second I thought there is a God and then I remembered the date. 😣

I concur with you, PeteandSylvi. A lagoon is an area of shallow water enclosed by a reef of coral or rocks. The so-called 'Blue Lagoon' on the NW coast of the Akamas peninsular in no way fits this description.

It is a BAY, plain and simple! But a very scenic one, it must be admitted! AL :D

Some years ago, the town I lived in had a large statue of Queen Victoria in the town square. In the night someone had painted footprints coming down from the plinth round the corner into the ladies loo, and back again, brilliant.

Many years ago, BBC ran a news item about spaghetti trees in Italy on 1st April, fronted by their famous presenter Richard Dimbleby (I think?)

These past few years, it's usual to see a full page AD in all the UK daily newspapers on 1st April from BMW, regarding some super high-tec (non-existent) device they just invented for their cars, LOL!

Cheers- AL :)
