A Paphos beach is set to become an "All Year Round" holiday destination thanks to under-sand heating.
The Paphos Beacon has learned that the scheme on Coral Bay Beach is intended to "enhance the beach users' experiences even on days of inclement weather".
Successful trials have already been carried out in the safety of the Akamas Peninsula. With under-sand heating resulting in a 25% increase in the number of baby turtles hatched.
If the scheme proves successful, say sources, then there is no reason why it cannot be extended to other beaches, and even marinas. "Indeed, there was talk of installing heated boulders in Paphos harbour" , our unknown source revealed. "Decked out with luminous paint, there is no reason why holidaymakers couldn't enjoy 24 / 7 365 swimming."
