Re: Donald Trump shooting
Yes, have been thinking along your lines, Firefly. What puzzles me, is why a nation the size of the USA can't find anyone younger, with the special leadership and political awareness skills who is prepared to take on this very important role of the next president?

Yes, Kansas I think that you are right about the Paphos Desalination plant having been dismantled a couple of years after the previous drought had ended. Memory says that the previous Mayor of Paphos decided that the de-sal. unit(which had been described as being 'mobile' and was rented, was an un n...

If Trump becomes President as is likely the huge changes which he has indicated he will make concerning both Foreign Affairs and the foreign defence treaties the USA currently has with NATO would probably affect Europe adversely as he is a friend of Mr Putin. Whether the fact that he is still alive ...

Re: MUKW3 biometric card application form
I updated to the MUKW3 last year. As I am traveling within EU countries shortly, this form which is in fact a biometric card which is credit card sized will fit in my wallet and be easily accessible when going through immigration at airports.
So it really supercedes the old MEU paper one.

Max, When we lived in Kamares area, a long while ago, my husband had a small petrol fueled standby generator. As you said, the first check was how much petrol, then a battle to start it! Then, the relief of plugging in the fridge, plus one lamp, maybe a standing fan..... then hoping the power cut wo...

Re: Bus to Larnaka Airport
Seems an excellent service, but it would be even better if the service finished in Paphos town.
So wonder is there a connecting bus service from Paphos airport to Paphos Karavella?

That sounds very fair and can I say part of their previous excellent service strategy when dealing with all their many customers. I will be sad to see the Papantinou's familiy's exodus. I hope that the new owners will keep most of the extra services which are currently provided. Such as the counter ...

Re: No water in our part of Chloraka
Yes, MM, the hosepipe ban was part of an article about water shortages I saw in yesterday’s Cyprus Mail. Bans on the use of hosepipes are quite normal when reservoir water levels are falling. Cyprus goes through cycles re winter rain amountsAfter several rainy winters a drought follows. The article ...

Re: Call for sex abusers to be castrated
Yes, I agree. Rape is a particularly nasty sort of crime which has far reaching effects on the poor victim, be it be a woman and particularly for a child.
Even with total castration hopefully a long custodial sentence should be given as well to all convicted rapists.

Re: No water in our part of Chloraka
Hi Polly,
Hopefully you have water now. My Roof tank filled up overnight so the water pressure was good today
But the reservoir is getting low due to the drought, so more water cuts may come.
There is a hose pipe ban too. Saw this info in the Cyprus Mail.

Re: Man shot and killed in Peyia, suspect in custody
Talking to a Cypriot friend recently I was almost surprised by the sheer number of firearms held in almost every house. It’s due to the requirement of having been issued with them, all members of the National Guard, reservists included keep them at home, plus the number of hunting rifles. Considerin...

Trev,
There are more questions than answers relating to the newLocal Govt shuffle! I guess that we will hopefully learn more how it works practically in due course..... Though somewhere I have read that the first 2 months are sort of trial and error which Govt will evaluate in September.

No water in our part of Chloraka. Enquiries have revealed that there is or (maybe was) a broken pipe in the village. It was hoped that it would be fixed today. But there is a serious water shortage now on island. Driving through the village earlier today I felt angry when I passed a-woman watering a...

Many thanks for posting this useful information. My map of Paphos/Paphos region is now out of date! Please could you clarify 'ETAP' offices, is this what used to be called the Cyprus Tourist Office, in Makarios Ave, or somewhere else?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: THE NEW MAP OF PAPHOS LOCAL GOVERNMENT FROM 1 JULY
I'm in Chloraka-Emba-Lempa area too. It would be-very interesting to find out what duties our own Municipality now has, or perhaps what they will be responsible for. I'm also thinking about Who will be issuing utility bills for payment of-say water bills? Also the annual community bills. Chloraka ha...
