Tribute programmes on Channel 4 tonight. One is his stand up show, and there's an episode of 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown.
So sad to read that he'd died. A very funny man, with deadpan delivery. RIP

Re: Countdown
I wasn't a huge fan of Nick Hewer, but he was 100% better than Anne Robinson. Her trademark 'put downs' have no place on Countdown. Not only is she very irritating, I can't help watching her face -to see if it moves. It doesn't. She seems devoid of any empathy with contestants. I think she could be ...

Re: Old advertising slogans
I think the first one was specific to northeast England.... 'Collect the labels, the gifts are free with Black & Greens, the family tea'. My mum did indeed 'collect the labels', and would let us help to choose the 'prize' of some household necessity or other. Plus, they held a competition to win...

Re: Proof Of Vaccination
I understand that if I enter Cyprus, I must show proof of my Covid vaccinations. I have the NHS card showing my name, what type of vaccine I had, their batch numbers, and the dates given. Is a photocopy of this enough proof does anyone know please ? Jackie Hi Jackie. Apparently not. Do you have a s...

Re: Weight of cordless vacuum cleaners ...
I also recommend the Shark cordless vacuum cleaners. Wouldn't be without mine. Bought it from AO.com. However, I'm in the UK. In Cyprus, I use a 'Robot' vacuum cleaner (made by Vax - not sure whether they still make them). I click the remote control, close the bedroom door, and let it do it's job. I...

Lovely, poignant song for Christmas
Heard this today on the Ken Bruce show (BBC Radio 2). It's proving very popular, and resonates with so many people, who can't be with their loved ones, due to Covid. Have a listen to the lyrics - they're simple, but sum up how many of us feel. I'd have loved it to be the UK's number 1 this Christma...

Re: Coronavirus: Clarifications on new measures for UK travellers
Out of interest, will the Cypriot youngsters, returning home to Cyprus from UK universities, also be required to stay in one of the chosen hotels for 7 days? Obviously, it would appear so, but it means they won't be at home with their families for Christmas.

Re: Christmas Bonus
I think it's high time the £10 Christmas 'bonus' stopped. (Oooh, I can hear the gasps of disapproval already haha). Let me explain why I think this. Introduced in 1972, it was seen as a generous amount, to help with the cost of Christmas, or to pay for extra heating costs. Because of inflation, £10 ...

Re: Masks
It's a really weird disease, isn't it? Some, like your daughter get completely bowled over for a long period. But my daughter has three friends who all went down with it and recovered quickly, in a matter of days. But what's even more weird, given the daily mantra for social distancing and wearing ...

Re: Masks
We were in Cyprus in March, when Covid was beginning to kick in. We'd planned to stay till April, only returning at our daughter's insistence. We wore masks prior to leaving, when shopping etc. On our BA flight to LHR, we were in the very tiny minority of people wearing them. When we arrived home, w...

Re: Intermittent fasting 16:8 - anybody tried it?
Isn't it amazing how many of us are 'diet experts'!! (I include myself, obvs) Almost a year ago to the day, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. The nurse practioner delivered this news in her usual brusque manner, & told me I'd need to start on Metformin. I was aghast (would prefer not to take...

Re: Shamima Begum - this is going to cost UK a small fortune....
Shamima Begum - who joined the Islamic State group aged 15 - is set to be granted legal aid to fight the decision to revoke her UK citizenship. The 19-year-old, who left east London in 2015, was stripped of her citizenship in February, after she was found in a Syrian refugee camp. Her family has pr...

Re: Game of Thrones season 8
I'm also in the 'haven't watched a single episode' club. I started watching the very first episode, but it was too violent for me. My OH didn't start watching until series 4, so wasted lots of holiday time, binge watching until he'd caught up. Instantly hooked. I may start to watch it... but then ag...

Re: Bio Oil
Great as a skin moisturiser, and smells lovely. Recommended to me for scar removal after two separate surgical ops. Didn't work at all, the scars are still very prominent. Often half price in the UK, so it might be worth you asking someone to bring some over for you. Bio-oil is also now produced in ...

It’s just awful, deranged fanatics strike again. I have a friend with children at school in Christchurch. Do hope that they are all OK, It must have been frightening when the police apparently put the whole city in ‘lock down’ afterwards. Dee I've a friend who teaches there, and she had over 60 7 ye...
