Re: GPS who knows?

We don't have a satnav in our car and have relied on Here Maps phone app to find our way around the back roads from our new home in UK since we moved back from Cyprus three years ago. It does have blank spots though in certain areas and our lady suddenly loses her voice but as long as we continue we...

Re: Glasses...

As you know, I'm in UK so my opticians is local to me and is Specsavers where I get the 2 for 1 offer on a yearly basis if my specs need to be rejigged. However, I did sign up through Glasses Direct following their advertising last year with their "2 pairs from £19" and "2 Designer pairs from £39" p...

"Walls have ears" - just remember that ;) As posted on the Independent in April 2019 - unless you're subscribed or don't have an Ad-Blocker, you may not be able to read the article so I've copied and pasted below the link: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/amazon-alexa-e...

I can't work out if they were either devoid of brain or they were very clever and wanted to create a scene.
Either way, it's had an effect - whether it's the one they wanted, we shall probably never know...

Re: Charity threatens to release animals into the streets

Having had dealings with this particular charity in the past who took money from us when they imported our domestic pets to Cyprus for us when we arrived from UK and did not provide the necessary vaccinations they said they would, even though we were charged for them - not just us but also our neigh...

Welcome 😊

I found jagwheels response highly entertaining and I reckon it explains why no more cake ever appeared 😉

Re: Where to buy real saffron?

Many people sell saffron as the genuine article when in fact it's a mix / blend and will change colour to yellow immediately you pour water over a little of it. A nice little video here about it and how to test if it's real or fake: https://youtu.be/8D5Ln41rEmU I don't think a trip to Iran may be in...

But you forget, Uncle D - Cyprus is wonderful and the people are so friendly....
And her friend was a male so probably didn't think twice about it.

Hi, I cannot vouch for the company but they do have favourable reviews on their Facebook page and they do seem to offer the service you are looking for: https://www.taxis-manchesterairport.co.uk/services/meet-and-greet-service/ This is the link to the Reviews page on FB: https://www.facebook.com/pg/...

Re: The Pros and Cons of Flu Jabs

I used to have the flu jab in UK before we went to live in Cyprus in 2004 and continued to do so in Cyprus until we left in 2016. I'm an asthma sufferer with what they refer to as brittle asthma - odd things can trigger it very rapidly. When we returned to UK we were so caught up trying to get stuff...

How about the theft of £47k...
That's effectively how much pension has been stolen from me because I was born in the wrong year.

Re: Encouraging news over Brexit.

You cannot compare Milk and Bread - as these are often loss-leaders for supermarkets. I don't tend to compare prices to be honest. My husband does though! I'm one of those, I either want it or I don't..... But, I do like my HP Beans and the only place we can buy them is one shop and that's Home Bar...

Re: My first week driving electric SUV

@Devil Thank you for your informative post, it looks like it's staying on our agenda then. We don't do many short trips as we can walk into the village should we need anything, except if it's pouring with rain! The shortest short journey we do is just around 8 miles each way to either Lidl or into P...

Re: My first week driving electric SUV

Very interesting thread..... I hadn't read it until now but we've got the joiner in so can't do any home working at the moment as my hubby is helping him, so it's given me the opportunity to sit and read. When we came to UK after our years in Cyprus, we didn't really want to get a car but just as we...
