Massive Peyia project raises concerns

Post by Paphos Life »

By Bejay BrowneA MASSIVE development proposed for a hillside above Peyia in Paphos will irreversibly devastate the natural environment, put pressure on infrastructure and create new homes where thousands remain empty, according to environmentalists, opposed to the project....

Strange..... I was always led to believe from a certain resident of that area that Peyia was extremely popular as thousands of people had chosen it. So I'm surprised to read there are still thousands of empty properties ;-)

I can't understand why they would want to build more. It really makes no sense if they cannot sell the existing ones. And I don't think I would want another big project going ahead right above me either.

If there are that many unsold properties already it certainly does make no sense.

Louise, there was one paragraph in the article by Bejay Browne which said:
Papastylianou said that as there are currently already around 6,500 buildings in Peyia with 3,000 or so already lying empty, it was nonsensical to create more. He also questioned how these would then be rented or sold.
Sounds like a hell of a lot!
