As an EU citizen & resident in Cyprus, if you are of retirement age, you can obtain a 50% reduction in the cost of both Inter-city and local buses.

Applications for a card at the Citizen Centre or Post Office CZ.

It may take a while for your card to arrive though. I'm still waiting for mine after 2 1/2 years. I do though have a paper permit that gets close inspection whenever I present it to the drivers.

We have had one for quite a few years. At that time, you had to be 63 years old. We rarely use it but it's a cheap way of getting to Limassol docks if you go on a cruise! Also to Nicosia hospital. It stops outside.
