Helenic Bank Stroumbi

Post by Uncle D »

Hi, does anyone know if this bank is open for business, or just another closed branch?
Thanks
David

It’s open, and very handy to have so near to us.

It is very much open but as it is a former Co-op Bank, it is not fully integrated into the Hellenic system. They would not accept cash payment into a Hellenic account last week ...

If this is the case then they are going to benefit from the closure of bank of Cyprus in the village.
Good move.
If you are the same David Brown I saw posting on another forum, you might find this explains it:

Kay,
I'm told integration is expected in September, which coming from the background i do having working on some of the largest bank integrations there are, is laughable, but not the end of the world. The ATM software has been rebranded but still comes up as withdrawal from CoOp Stroumbi on the statement. The old CoOp in Polemi looked as deserted as ever when I drove by earlier, surely to have 2 about 3km part would be a bit odd?

I agree. Interesting, but not exactly pertaining to your comment.
However, nothing is happening to the former Co-op in Polemi. As Ian said, it would be odd to have a second branch so close to the larger Stroumbi one, and probably not viable either, as the Stroumbi branch is already picking up new customers from amongst those who can no longer readily access a BofC branch close to home.

That was exactly the reason that I was in there ;-)

We called into our account holding branch of Hellenic in town this morning. I queried the status of the Stroumbi branch whilst there. They confirmed that it will be fully integrated into the Hellenic systems on 16/09, which ties in with what they were saying in March, and will operate a Branch in Branch service like they do at the branch we visited today, with a dedicated cashier till for former CoOp customers.
