british .eu

Post by Devil »

According to Internet regulations, only persons/organisations resident in the EU have the right to use the domain .eu in their e-mail addresses. Many internationally minded companies in the UK have .eu domains. I can foresee e-mail chaos if they have to abandon/change their domain.

Good point! The domain .eu has always been more regulated than others - they will remove it from you, for example, if not being used - i.e. parked

I can think of a remain voting, highly trained and experienced network and security Engineer with years of experience on hundreds of networks that finds this post hilarious. It's ME. Very similar to the argument of ICANN removing the PTR records for the .eu domain from the root servers, all US controlled, for trying to do it, mildly ridiculous.

But it is not even based on that, it is based on the fact that I have seen nothing to support what you say, companies that use .eu mx recs have always had another entity within the eu and as a contractor I have been around. I am sure there are a few and some would be American with a UK office, Japanese, Australian etc. ICANN is not so mealy minded, organisations like that are not, they truly think world without borders. I could see a scaled requirement to change, no cliff edge, sorry.
