We took advantage of some excellent prices and discounts on Black Friday, on Amazon and with Cotton Traders. We had goods dispatched to the UK as well as Cyprus. Our Amazon order to be delivered to the UK arrived on time and will be brought out by my brother-in-law tomorrow. No problems at all.
And then ... I had ordered quite an expensive soundbar and connecting optical cable from Amazon. For some reason Amazon decided to split the order, and apparently dispatched the cable separately some days ago. It was to be “delivered” by DHL. Tracking the package it was “out for delivery” for days on end, but never arrived. I was contacted by ACS (who are sub-contracted by DHL) and told to collect the package from their Polis office. I drove down there to be told the package was in Paphos and I could collect it from there. I declined and they reluctantly agreed to have it sent to Polis. I returned the next day and they could not find the package or account for its whereabouts.
I emailed Amazon and they agreed to send another cable and refund the Post & Packing charge.
My package from Cotton Traders was tracked to Larnaca where it was “ready for collection” - a mere 175km away. I contacted Cotton Traders and they said they would contact DHL. I then received a phone call from ACS to tell me my package was in their Polis office. “My cable” I thought. When I arrived there it was my Cotton Traders package. Was I ever so slightly confused? I then received an email from Cotton Traders refunding my “Premium Delivery” charge.
And then, to cap it all, I had another email from Cotton Traders the next day to say that they had contacted DHL who said they could not deliver to this area and my only option was to drive to Larnaca. Cotton Traders then said I could cancel the order and have a full refund. Being honest I contacted them and told them the package was now in my possesssion.
The end of the story ... not quite ... I received two emails from Amazon. The first that my soundbar had been dispatched and would be delivered by UPS (thank the Lord) on 7th December. Two hours later I received a second email, telling me that they had refunded €28.30, as my soundbar had been “damaged in transit”. Tracking the package it is still due to be delivered on 7th December.
What a farce ...
What a farce...

I admire your honesty.
Items sent via UPS now get delivered to my door in Polemi! This is a major breakthrough. Things are improving, but I think there was a lot of deadwood in the delivery companies that needed shifting.

Re: What a farce...
I ordered last week a capsule coffee machine just to give it a try, duly ordered from Amazon UK then within a minute I realised stupidly I had it sent to my Sister in Law in the UK as a back up address, within a few minutes I tried to cancel that order, no such luck as they said it had already been dispatched, I could not believe it but the next day it arrived at my sister in laws house in the Uk, I asked her to pop it into the post and I would reimburse her all costs, the cheapest way to ship out here cost more than the item, so I donated the machine to her family, just a warning if you have more than one delivery address, I have now removed it to save any further cock-ups. (by me)
