We’ve had a thunderstorm too. Here the sound of thunder reverberates around the hills which makes it sound v loud, we had several near overhead rolls of thunder and lightening some of it sheet lightening, but fortunately the power stayed on. The rain is so welcome.Long may it rain!

Cor, and it's just a day after a big coptic storm date. Are the coptics making a comeback this season? 2 for 2 so far...

Electricity restored in Paphos communities after overnight storms

Paphos district bore the brunt of last night’s stormy weather, with strong winds and heavy rain leading to fallen trees, flooded roads and electricity cuts.
Electricity has now been restored with EAC crews working overnight to repair damage that affected some Paphos communities as a result of fallen electricity poles.
Road crews worked to clear a road at Kouklia from a fallen tree, while strong winds ripped the roof off a house in Stavrokonos.
The fire service received five calls to deal with flooded streets and basements and fallen trees in Paphos.
Power cuts affected Stavrokonos, Ayia Varvara, Fasoula, Mandria, Kouklia, Emba, Tala, Kissonerga and the Coral Bay area.
There was heavy rain in Limassol, Larnaca and free Famagusta districts.
There were a few uprooted trees in Dromolaxia while the corrugated metal roof was ripped off near Ayios Lazaros in Larnaca.
In Nicosia, the fire service were called to free a trapped driver from a car after the road flooded in Kaimakli.

Re: Rain, Thunder and Lightning in Polemi
Judging by the level of water in our swimming pool, I would say that overnight about 50mm of rain fell here in Anarita. Must now do a backwash to lower the level of water in case we get more rain over the next few days.
Re: Rain, Thunder and Lightning in Polemi
We have more rain and thunder forecast for Polemi today, and indeed we have had some of both already

They can write what they want in their newspaper, but nothing was restored until right now 11.40 AM Friday. Power was off from yesterday evening at 6.30 PM but it was the first time this Autumn that the rainfall is worth to mention: overnight 55 mm/m2 and this morning 3 mm/m2 so far...but that is what we need and more.... (not the powercuts)
