Yes, thanks to our panels we could afford to run a pool heater. Together with a pool cover it meant we were swimming a lot longer than before. We've turned it off now though. It's one thing having a nice warm pool but when you get out and the air is bloody cold it just gives you a chill.

It will also mean that we will be swimming earlier in spring too.

If I had space out of site, I would consider pool heating and pump from solar....`in Spain, air-source is more common than solar..

Isn't that because Spain discourages solar through things like the 'sun tax' which I believe is/has/will be soon scrapped?

I have absoutely no sympathy with the EAC the way that they are ripping us all off.I wish CERA had more teeth and could cap the price that EAC are allowed to sell elec for. That’s the only way to get them to streamline their mode of operation and shed their excess numbers of staff, especially lazy office staff.
They have known for years that they should install gas generators and stop their dependence on heavy polluting oil.They have known about PV panels for generating renewable energy, only recently have they started installing some of their own.Meanwhile small producers like me of PV are being hit by exhorbitant taxes and charges for producing and selling back to the grid.

Would you please clarify which exorbitant taxes and charges YOU pay for producing and selling back electricity to the grid. My last bills show only total net-metering charges of Euro 11.64 !! while my total charges for 2 month are 25,47 Euro as usual so far ....

Strange, when I commented on this profi making in a previous thread how many people were prepared to defend the EAC pricing structure and staffing costs!!

Sorry folks, this is a level of state owned profiteering far too far!!

For those of you who have the opportunity to fit panels etc to offset your electricity prices, well done and good on you..for the rest of us..well just keep on getting royalaly ripped off...

Talking about ripped off from EAC: this is nothing if you compare what happened to several customers of mine in the past when EAC took deposits to bring electricity connection to properties away from grid in order to install large PV plants. Many month later they told the investors that due to too much demand they won't get licenses. These cases are still in court as the people want their down payment back. Worse hit were investors which bought agricultural land to high prices (when there was already grid connection) to find out after 2 years waiting for permit to built a PV plant that EAC cannot find the application file anymore and the time expired in the meantime....These customers/investors left Cyprus for good as they had enough after spending 100k's of Euros for nothing...Local investors were able to built PV plants though, this says it all. (Koili, Letymbou, Agios Dimitrianos, Psathi p.e.)
