Rocky stuff (part 1)!

Post by ph06kg1 »

Hello all,

today i guess i will steal some time from work to devote it (usefully i hope!) to rocky stuff! (Big boss is away so stealing is allowed)! Below are some of my old finds from different locations in Cyprus, old mines and Troodos surrounding fields in general. Hope you enjoy,

Selenite is the absolutely transparent, water clear form of crystallized gypsum. This one is from Mitsero mine, in Nicosia. There are also other types of gypsum, the "fishtail formation", alabaster, etc.

BLACK ANALCIME CRYSTALS

A rather rare form of black analcime crystals, most probably due to carbon inclusions. In general, black color in crystals is quite rare (as an inclusion, not physical color). From Mitsero mine, Nicosia.

MORDENITE BALLS HAIRY CRYSTALS

Mordenite is a cool crystal, totally looks like hair! These balls also contain some gmelinites (from Marki area, Ncosia)
