Hire car excess insurance

Post by Kili01 »

Hi All,
I am visiting the UK soon and will need a hire car.
Am hoping that someone on here has taken out insurance to cover the "excess" created by car hire companies who don't insure you against the first £3,000 in the event of there being a claim on your insurance. This is despite the fact that you have already paid their compulsary anti theft and CDW insurance. Their own optional insurance for this excess is wickedly expensive.
I used to have hire care excess insurance with insurance 4 car hire, but thats no longer available.
I have found another company who does this, icarhireinsurance. Has anyone used them? Or is there another company out there who does this which they recommend?

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Go to http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-car-hire and then at the foot of the article are recommendations for insurers who cover excess car hire insurance

I have an annual policy with https://www.icarhireinsurance.com and don't need to take any extra cover.
They include everything including glass, tyres, and the underneath of the car.
I have not made a claim ,but have read that people that have claimed had no problems at all

Thank you all for your help. I have now booked my excess cover insurance for a year. So much cheaper than the extortionate prices charged by the car hire companies! Mine was less than £40 for the year and covering multiple trips.

Hi Trev,
I booked it with icarhireinsurance.com. I found their website easy to understand and operate, and the insurance which they offered seemed to cover everything needed!
