Cherimoya from Cyprus available now.. (pics)

Post by cyprusmax47 »

One of my favourite fruit is available now again, grown local and one can find them in fruit markets at Paphos. As they are very sweet, it is not everyones taste, but they are one of the healthiest fruits you can eat. When they are ripe I put them in the fridge for a couple of hours and then just cut them in halve and spoon it up. It is like a sweet cream dessert. Only one thing: you CANNOT eat the seeds (poisonous) and with every spoon you have a couple of them in your mouth. ( as they are quite large, it is easy to spit them out, much more pleasant than grapes with seeds)..

Important is that you wait some days until they ripen having some black spots on them like on my first pic

an how they look inside before you start to spoon them up...

Looks like you have the same plates (or similar design) as HiC!
Your table top is granite by the way :geek:

Ooops - I am way off indeed, sorry. Have seen those plates somewhere before but cannot remember where now :?:

What I can state with certainity though is that your work top is not granite (it's probably gabbro)!

I was thinking to put ripe cherimoya fruits into my freezer, and take them out when going for a picnic as an ready dessert... and found this:

"Its possible that no known fruit compares to the delicious taste of the cherimoya. The white flesh is luscious, soft and sweet and is described by many as having the flavour of Mango, pawpaw, bananas and coconut. They're absolutely delicious when devoured icy-cold from the freezer and eaten like ice-cream"
