Re: Crime Issues - Meeting with Chief of Police and Mayor
Like Police in most countries, they have far more important policing to do, like speeding traffic on a completely none urban roads, instead of doing the rounds at night to help stop home crimes, far easier to stand behind an unmarked van with a speed gun.

Jim.

Clever enough to catch you Allesley!
What a good move by Paphos Mayor and Chief of Police, its a good start by the authorities hopefully been open and honest and also finding out what the public grievances are so that they can action those grievances.

Speeding kills Jim so the speed controls are very important indeed as are the drink driving checks.

Re: Crime Issues - Meeting with Chief of Police and Mayor
Typical ex-police to say that, for sure I was caught doing a silly low speed on a fast: lol: road while some little Hitler uses his speed gun, if I was cleaver where are they when you really need a policeman, usually never there especially in area like Peyia where we did live, homes got broken into daily, did they ever get those who did it, no because they were out catching easy targets, the Police like in many countries may as well not bother.
OK so you never have speeded? of course you have, will you ever not speed again of course you will, I excepted my fine and paid, but what about those times you can never find the police? they need a kick up the bum Boycott, they are not angels as you know.
I have never in my life of driving on UK roads ever been stopped, that is 55 years of driving, not many can say that I feel, I consider myself a good driver never so far being in trouble for any moving road incidents, but you have to laugh at this lot of Keystone cops here..

Alleslley like it or not someone doing crime (ie theft/burglary etc) does not kill you whereas speeding kills either yourself or someone else.

Another really stupid comment Boycott, in the UK a very large black guy stood over our bed at 3am, with a very large screwdriver in his hand, did the UK police ever find him, you can guess, they were probably out and about with there radar toys.
Disgusting remark? what would that be then Lousie, the truth?

So not pro Police then Allesley!
How did the man with a screwdriver get to you home, yes by car, how would he transport the stolen goods, yes by car, will he have documents for the car, no he wont so making himself a easy target to get stopped by your friendly cops with their radar toys!
In 30 years of UK policing I never had to tell a relative that so and so had been killed or seriously injured in a theft/burglary in their home BUT many many times I had to call and tell a relative that someone had been killed or seriously injured in a road accident that was caused by speed or drink driving.

I totally agree, and this is open to all residents to put forward their grievances and or questions to the Police.

I am certainly pro the Police usually, but living here as long as I have I know just how poor the Cypriot Police are, it is far easier to stand on a new road with no urban development and speed gun you, rather than come into the local villages (no matter where) and deal with local kids and manic driving past houses, in our case near a home with 4 kids, crazy, if anyone can be bothered to go to that meeting perhaps you can ask that question, On my little innocuous incident I was a little unfortunate, a hire car (red plate) decided to drive straight over the roundabout road while indicating turning left, with me on the outside, I just put my foot (my motor is a hugely fast 1.2cc Nissan
) down to clear the danger and bingo Mr plod was there doing his finest trick. That road it is almost impossible to do 50K an hour, don't believe me then just try it, and they know this of course.
Not sure why Boycott you wish to know my business about past UK crime, perhaps it is your nature being ex Rosser. PM me and I will explain if the crime of thugs in your bedroom is of interest to you, and how they got in.
Hudswell are you, Mr Perfect?, never speeded in your driving life? yea sure. why are you such a plonker? I am and never have been concerned with that fine only the nature of that new road and local Policing of Cypriot road and village problems. Now grow old gracefully please, get over being sacked from CL
As for the Blackman in the UK I am sure it was a screwdriver, he got it out of my garage, I hope this never happens to you and just remember what you said if it does.
Finally like you Louise I drove a large BMW Motorbike for many years in the UK I doubt I ever did the speed limit, did you on your Harley, again I doubt it.

If you want people to call you Jim, why not just change your forum name to Jim?
It isn't complicated. Neither is sticking to the speed limit.

Another Jim? - I think we already have two - one pro and one against Brexit? And then we would have another one pro or is it against police? Too confusing for me really

Re: Crime Issues - Meeting with Chief of Police and Mayor
Some daft comments on this again here is a similar problem that I feel local Police do nothing about,
http://www.easterncyprus.com/viewtopic.php?t=100584 and another same forum, http://www.easterncyprus.com/viewtopic. ... 74da4fb4e7
My village of Tremithousa has this problem, do the police ever come into villages and do something about this, kids on mopeds with no helmets, insurance or exhausts, there is a speed limit but never adhered to at any time of the day, the police are so busy down at a completely innocuous duel carriage road with a speed limit you could almost walk faster, again try driving down this road doing this 50K an hour, almost impossible, yet cars and bikes fly past our homes in this village with kids so close they never even see them, they may be smoking, or on mobiles or both! a crazy situation the police care nothing about.
My name is Jim and my login will remain, never concerned to know members who I am or my name unlike some here, my login and name will stay as long as Dominic, doesn't mind of course.
Oh I have speeded Jim, and indeed been caught I just choose not to make such a pathetic song and dance about it....you were speeding..excessively hence the size of the fine...you never know if you bother to attend this meeting you may even be able to put you point across....and make a difference....and what the hell being "banned" from CL has to anything I am not quite sure....indeed I am probably in the majority of ex members....
I am not as you say making a pathetic song and dance and I do take being caught speeding seriously for the first time in my driving life, but other aspects of Cyprus Policing show through as being very poor and in our village very dangerous, not just a way of amassing funds for the local authorities to put in their coffers, use the Police's resources in a better safer way, surely even someone like you would agree? ( I cannot attend that meeting) as you say CL has nothing to do with you as you were banned as you were from other forums at that time, and just for your info two-thirds of this forum members are from the now defunct CL and are indeed PL members now. That can only be a good thing as they were great members unlike you of course. In fact, I gave Dominic the OK to contact members to this then new forum, it was great to see them signing up, we still have CL webcams showing that I am happy to keep running, service provided by Digby, bless him.

WOW!!
Maybe this is what happened to Allesley.
It was a plane coming into Paphos airport the police clocked, not a 1.2cc Nissan.

Your another noisy member.
The reason is I would have a dog with me if it dies then I will attend that meeting, no doubt a waste of my life attending, fairly sure they would not let me in with my dog, happy now?
