Ikea Assembly + Delivery

Post by kansas »

We'd like to buy a cabinet from Ikea and have it delivered to our home.

Has anyone recently ordered from Ikea, Nicosia on-line who's willing to share their experience, good or bad, i.e. how much is delivery cost, and (may be a daft question but they do this in some countries) will they assemble the unit for us prior to delivery?

I know I can contact them to ask the question but personal experience counts for a lot.

Many thanks

I doubt that they will assemble it prior to delivery, but you may get someone else to do it for you

You definitely don't need a carpenter to assemble IKEA furniture...just a screwdriver and time.....

With respect, even a useless ex-farmer like me can assemble Ikea furniture!

Delivery is very cheap, I paid around Euro 10 for a book case to be delivered in Tala. Ikea does assembly too, after delivery by a different team, so extra costs. Would be cheaper to get that done by someone locally.

Thanks for all your comments. We'll have a go at assembling the unit ourselves. If we have problems we can call in the professionals.

Maybe you and daveg missed the comment in the OP where kansas particularly asked for the furniture to be delivered "assembled". I was trying to help him to achieve this.
Maybe you missed the  that I put

<<pedant mode>> .....
If they particularly asked for it to be delivered "assembled" then a local carpenter would maybe get it delivered flat pack and have to deliver it on-site. ;)

We went to collect an item, supposed to be flat pack, coming in from Italy, it was already assembled, too big for the car and cost €50 for delivery! The item had to be returned because it was not adjustable, as stated online, so didn't fit! They collected it but we didn't get our delivery charge refunded. Flat pack is easy to assemble just may be a bit fiddly.
