Is one month in jail and suspending his driving license a stiff penalty! Considering that the man in qustion was under the influence of alchohol and according to the newspaper report, was driving wuthout a license, tax or insurance! To me it seems derisory! Hardly either a punishment or a deterrent. After a month he will probably be driving his car again...

The jail term may seem light. However, it probably means loosing his job. It certainly means loosing a months income with possible consequences on tenancy if he rents. It also means having a criminal record which reduces further employment opportunities and can have other ramifications.

Josef- maybe the guy in question should have thoroughly thought all these ramifications through before deciding to do what he did?
