Still closed on Sunday and there were no menus in the outside display cases, and looked unused plus no outside seats there.

I was speaking with Jimmy the waiter in March and he told me that the owner/chef and Jimmy were going to work in the newly refurbished Sofianna hotel which was due to open in May

Shame about the Almond Tree, but it was in a poor location and off the beaten track for most tourists. Also it was on the expensive side too. We used to go to Metaxas a long time ago and enjoyed it there, but then it also seemed to fade away.
I guess most restaurants seem to come and go. Sometimes just a change of chef can generate poor reviews and the punters go else where.

Hi Flossie

Yes we remember Tex and the old Metaxas at the PO loved the vouchers they did, was it something like 40% off, we used to exchange with
our next door neighbour ,fantastic food and a true gent.we like to visit the Muse now and have friends over with us in june so possibly a couple of visits , got to say always find the Moorings food very nice as well..

So with this in mind where -who are the Almond Tree-Metaxas equivs in Paphos now >?

SalaThai is excellent too (next to La Vigna. In Peyia centre Peyia Tavern is still one of our favorites. Cousins Tavern does a great stifado.

Flossie......I remember Pavarotti it was very different to all the other restaurants when it opened and was very busy but it went off the boil I think the last time I ate there was 2006!!
If my memory serves me well you could get an excellent steak at Metaxas
I’ve always enjoyed the food at Ficado and their fillet steak is excellent...........

My favourite at the Muse are the salmon rolls, filled with feta cheese as a starter. The main, chicken kebab, I can never finish, as it is so much meat...and ever so tender. When I try chicken fillet at home it is never that juicy, they must marinade it!

We’ve tried Gabor French restaurant opposite the Avanti village in Kato Paphos a few times and have not been disappointed.

Have to agree with the stifado at Cousins. Best we have ever tasted. A regular favourite of ours. Love the dolmades and sheftalia there as well.

Ohh for a good butchers Lorne sausage. Going back to God's country in August for a wedding, can't wait to taste some.
