Looking for name of tree

I saw this tree (I think it is a tree or large shrub a few weeks ago in Kampos. Any idea? It looks like a small hydrangea, but not sure.

They look like pompoms.

Indeed they look like pompoms. I think it is a wild hydrangea. I hoped someone could confirm.

It could be a false jasmine, Philadelphus virginalis....

Thanks Max, but don't think so, the flowers were quite full and round and really looking like pompoms.
