A bit of a damp squib last night in our area, very quiet, some very loud what sounded like homemade fireworks, but nothing as in previous years, even our village had no displays again this year, austerity measures again no doubt, but Souvla will on in our backyard later, looking forward to that.
Trev that was when the church service finished at midnight,we were up at the church with most of the village the usual huge bonfire which one of these years is going to burm the electric cables above it, at midnight when the service finishes the priest emerges with banners and the cross, the fireworks increase to welcome him and your candles are lit, lots of handshaking and saying Christos Anesti, then it’s all walking anti clockwise round the church, then home still with your candle alight, make the sign of the cross with it at your front door hopefully it will give your home a happy year.
