The department of labour inspection on Wednesday informed the public that a dangerous chainsaw has been withdrawn from the market....

That's a smack in the gob for a very highly-respected power tools name like Makita!

Unless this is a cheap Chinese / Turkish clone we're looking at here?

Followed your suggestion down to deep level, Dom..

Didn't see this particular chainsaw on the current list of rapex EU Makita safety recalls, but there were five other power tool models from the same manufacturer on the danger list. This shocks me, as the Makita brand is famous in industry for being the best quality (and most expensive) tools available to the skilled professionals.

Maybe it's a case of superb Japanese design, farmed out to low cost Chinese build, with inadequate testing and QC controls in place? All to drive up profit margins...

Makita risk besmirching their previously well-deserved name, a bit like Skoda back in the 70's!
