Holidays to Cyp
Holidays to Cyp
I have noticed over the last 2 years how much the visitors to the Island has increased. The Villa we usually book is booked up to next year to 2019 Nov nearly. This is great for the economy and the people of Cyprus. I just wonder why the big increase in bookings(Should not really as the hidden gem has been discovered such a lovely Island that I am in love with) Even EasyJet Flights are up. Last year we paid Sept return £140. and this year nearly £270 return. Hope it continues for the economy of this lovely place and also hope it does not spoil it.
Re: Holidays to Cyp
It is partly due to holiday makers avoiding Turkey, I believe.
And with companies like BookCyprus.com providing such good deals, what's not to love?
They are advertisers on here, but I only approached them because we used them ourselves all the time when we were visiting in the past.

Re: Holidays to Cyp
Prices in Spain have steadily increased over the last two years.... Many say it's cheaper to go long haul all inclusive rather than to Benidorm!
Turkey is still extremely good value for money in getting there and including accommodation so people are still going there.
Tunisia is now back on the UK tour operators schedule and that was always a great destination for distance, weather and cost.
Things are changing in the tourist industry, as ever. Each time something has an effect in one area, another gains for a while until the next change comes along...

HIC, we stopped off at Kusadasi and Alanya on the cruise from Limassol last Easter. One of the taxi drivers we used for sightseeing was explaining that after the attempted coup, tourism levels had fallen off a cliff. At the time occupancy levels in Alanya were 3%!

Re: Holidays to Cyp
The Brits are still flocking to Turkey from UK. I'm reading it on a daily basis on at least 4 Facebook groups that I visit. Tourists will always go where they get the best deal for their wallets... They're a fickle lot!
We toyed with several destinations for my upcoming 60th celebrations and Turkey was looking favourite based on costs taking several factors into consideration (number of nights, flight times and the overall spend). But our hearts overruled in the end and we chose to go back to Egypt instead.
A bit more costwise but it's a place we love and feel comfortable in.
