Max's pic of the weekend (5)

Post by cyprusmax47 »

Just a reminder: very soon our countrysides will look like this pic again. So enjoy the Spring with all the green and flowers around.
Where is that area and to which village is leading this road?

Could be lots of places. I will have a guess at near the semi-abandoned village of Statos.

This road is going to the semi-abandoned village of Anadhiou. It is the large valley of the river Stavros tis Psokas which ends in the Evretou Dam, opposite Sarama village. Many years back I had to be rescued driving this road in Winter with an 4x4, as I got stuck some km away from Anadhiou
in the mud. The soil in this area, if wet is very difficult to drive, it is like snow slush....but before rain no problem at all. This photo was from beginning Dec 2010, which was a very dry Autumn.

Quite a few people get stuck there in winter. You can read their tales of woe on the geocaching site.
