General Hospital this morning.

Post by JimX »

Now I got to the registration area this morning at 5.50am I was for the first time ever the only person waiting to register to see my usual GP, no other patient was in the hall, the blinds were drawn down and the lady registrar in the wheelchair opened the blinds at 6.05am, I duly got the strip of prescription tickets, and I was number 4? and yes they eventually turned up at the doctors door, so how did they do this? my guess is they went to the back door, must try this next time, no complaints may I add, got seen by my GP with the usual bag full of meds, back home before 9am.

Just wondered how they jump the queue like this, corruption rules I guess. :)

I've never managed to get any better than No. 3 .............. I don't know what the secret is!

Maybe there’s a way to register at your leisure the previous day?

We always found it was better to go to the (Limassol) general later in the morning between 9:30 to 10:00am - the registration queue had gone down and we were registered, seen by the GP and with our prescriptions collected, we were back home again inside 90 minutes.

Jules, good morning, (Paphos hospital) I have tried at different times of the day, early suits me as it is easy to park and you usually get home at a decent time. Never been to Limassol General but Paphos hospital is very busy most of the time.

Dee morning, you cannot do this as the tickets have a date and time on them, my GP only takes on 35 patients a day. And those tickets are only for the day of issue they told me, I suspect those queue jumpers go to the side door and get these low numbers there, it looks like it is who you know at the General, :)

I did not have to wait too long as number 3 (I was 4) did not turn up.

Allesley,
I think it was not a question of No.3 not turning up, but that number was never issued. I am sure gaps in numbers are created so that if required the people at the registration can slot their friends higher up the order rather than having to add them at the end of the list. Sometimes those gaps are not required.

On a similar note, I occasionally shop at Papantoniou in town for their cooked food items and soon learnt to get my ticket early on before the food was delivered to the counter. No customers at the counter, then the food arrives and there's a massive queue. Most have tickets and non ticket holders are shown where the ticket dispenser is located. If you miss your number being called out, you'll still be the next person served.

I would have thought at the hospital that tickets can only be issued at the main reception area as it is computerised?

The answer is quite simple re missing numbers - for those who are given 2x 2 monthly prescriptions - when the 2nd prescription is due they still have to register and get the sticker for the prescription. They are therefore given a no but don't need it as they are not seeing a Doctor. However how someone got an earlier number to Jim I have no idea!
