BBC iPlayer via VPN

Post by trevnhil »

I am looking for ideas to help in using the BBC iPlayer...

Let me explain... We have 3 laptops, and all of them have the same VPN loaded ie Tunnel Bear.
All the laptops have both Google Chrome and Firefox loaded on them.. And they are all on windows 10.

Two of the laptops with the VPN on can receive the BBC iPlayer. But one cannot. I have tried all I can think of to disable all geographical links on all three laptops... But still we cannot get the BBC iPlayer on the just the third one either on Chrome or Firefox..

Any ideas for a non tech user..??

Does each laptop have the wan address?

Does the VPN provider restrict the number of computers?

I have no idea about Wan addresses. I did say I was non technical :-) There is only a restriction of 5 units on the VPN..

We are indirectly with Cyta.. The thing about the time may be valid, BUT the other two laptops have Cyprus time.. I have even set the location of all three laptops to our previous UK postcode... And we are using a VPN every time

Trev, you don't seem to be getting much joy with this mystery in here, m8.

As you are a self-confessed non-techy, can I suggest that you take a 'good vpn' laptop and the 'bad vpn' laptop to Computer SOS and ask them to look into the issue?

My gut feeling is that it's something dead simple regarding internet settings on the 'bad' machine. Possibly a fixed (CYTA) isp address, rather than dynamic (VPN), or similar. With good and bad to compare as a reference and a fix target, it shouldn't take Brian too long to resolve the problem...

Cheers- AL :)
